Getting to Heriot-Watt University:

From the airport: A taxi from Edinburgh Airport to the main entrance of the university costs around £10 and takes under 10 minutes. Using taxis to get to and from the airport is strongly recommended as there is no regular direct bus route from the campus

By train: Get off at Waverly Station. A taxi to the main university reception costs about £25-30 and will take around 25 minutes. Alternatively, bus services 25 and 34 leave from Princes Street in front of the station every 10 minutes, cost £1.20 and take around 35 minutes. Heriot-Watt (Riccarton) is the last stop. Alternatively, those arriving by train may get off at Haymarket station (if their train stops there). A taxi to the university costs £15-20 and takes 20 about minutes. The number 25 bus also passes Haymarket, with a travel time to the university of around 25 minutes.

By coach: From the central bus station in St Andrew Square either get a taxi (£25-30), or ask for directions to Princes Street (2 minutes walk). Cross the street and get the 25 or 34 bus outside Waverly train station.

By car: The Heriot-Watt campus is easily accessible by car, both from the centre of Edinburgh (6 miles) and from all major routes leading to the city. The university is half a mile from the Calder Junction of the A720 City of Edinburgh By-Pass and the A71 (there are signs for Heriot-Watt University on the approach to Calder Junction). On the M8, from Glasgow, turn right at the Hermiston Gait roundabout following the signs for the A71. The A720 is a dual carriageway which skirts Edinburgh and can be accessed from all the major routes entering and leaving the city: A90 (North), M8 and M9 (West), A702 (South and M6), A7 and A68 (Borders and South), A1 (South and East). All visitors should use Car Park A or B (signposted) on entering the campus.

On Arrival: Once you have arrived at the university, go to the main reception. A registration desk will be set up to welcome all participants from 16:00 until 19:00. Free wireless internet is provided in the Postgraduate Centre where the meeting will be held. Unfortunately, for the duration of the meeting, wireless internet access will be unavailable in the accommodation block. However, free plug-in internet is available but to access this you will require an Ethernet cable. These are not supplied by Conference Services and you must either bring your own or buy one from the Student Shop (at a cost of about £3)
